Welcome to the Sunderland PPS site
Sunderland PPS mission statement - Sunderland Parent Partnership Service is a statutory service that exists to improve  support and advice for parents and carers of children with special educational needs and enable them to play a more active role in their children’s education. ppsThe Service

Parent Partnership is a service which aims to:

  • Explain to parents special needs procedures and processes
  • Support parents/carer in understanding SEN documents
  • Help parents/carers to express their views
  • Put parents/carers in touch with voluntary organisations or parent groups which can help to support them and their child
  • Identify opportunities for training to support parents/carers

ppsThe Work of the Service

We will work to:

  • Provide parents/carers with information
  • Provide support for parents/carer through volunteer Independent Parent Supports (IPS) where possible.
  • Collaborate with other individuals and groups to strengthen partnership working with parents/carers
  • Provide support for parents/carers to both express their views and in understanding documentation in relation to their child’s SEN

We will be committed to:

  • Training and supporting IPS working with the Service
  • Maintaining professional Standards
  • Providing opportunities for IPS to gain transferable skills and experience

We will seek to operate in a way that is:
